Are you considering retiring your trusty old Kindle? Maybe it’s time to upgrade to a new device from Amazon. The tech giant is rolling out its latest lineup of Kindle e-readers, with the popular Paperwhite model getting a significant boost this week.

Amazon has recently unveiled a new entry-level Kindle model featuring a brighter display and a vibrant Macha green design. This is just the beginning, as a variety of new Kindle devices are set to hit shelves in the UK soon. In December, Amazon will launch the Colorsoft, its first e-reader with a color screen, as well as an upgraded version of the premium Scribe. The Colorsoft is expected to be available next month.

The 2024 Kindle Paperwhite boasts a 7-inch illuminated display, is waterproof, and offers a battery life of three months. It also boasts the fastest page turns of any Kindle to date, providing users with a seamless reading experience.

If you’re eager to get your hands on a new device sooner, Amazon will be releasing an all-new Paperwhite model later this week. Since its introduction in 2021, the Amazon Paperwhite has become the company’s best-selling e-reader and continues to be optimized for enhanced book browsing.

The 2024 update promises to be the fastest model yet, with Amazon claiming increased performance and a 25% speed improvement in page turns. This means a smoother browsing experience when accessing your Kindle Library or the Amazon Store.

The device boasts the highest contrast ratio of any Kindle and comes with a larger 7-inch display, making it perfect for perusing best-sellers or autobiographies.

Amazon also touts this as the thinnest Paperwhite ever, with full waterproofing and a battery life of three months – perfect for reading in the bath without worry. The Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition offers 32 GB of storage, optional wireless charging, and an auto-adjusting front illumination in addition to the standard 16GB of storage.

The device is priced starting at £159.99, but you can save 20% by trading in your old Kindle device through Amazon’s trade-in program.

In other news, on October 8, 2024, traders in New York City’s New York Stock Exchange are busy on the trading floor during morning trading. The blue-chip index closed at a record high, with Dow Jones Industrial Average futures almost unchanged on Monday night.

Futures tied to the 30-stock average rose by 55 points, or 0.1%. Nasdaq 100 futures and S&P 500 futures were trading close to flatlines.

Following a strong day on Wall Street, which saw the S&P 500 and Dow hitting new intraday highs and record closes, the Dow closed above 43,000 for the first time, gaining over 200 points.

The S&P 500 was led by the information technology sector, which saw nearly a 1.4% increase. Nvidia’s 2.4% rally helped push the market higher, resulting in a record close for the artificial intelligence giant.

Scott Chronert, Citi’s U.S. equity strategist, said on CNBC’s “Closing Bell” that the S&P 500 may be somewhat, if not significantly, overvalued. However, as long as the news flow remains supportive, this trend could continue.

Investors will be keeping an eye on economic data related to consumer sentiment and manufacturing as Fed Governor Adriana Kugler, Atlanta Fed President Raphael Bostic, and San Francisco Federal Reserve President Mary Daly are scheduled to deliver speeches throughout the day.
